Biography

・Born in Ishikawa.
・Graduated Kanazawa College of Art, MA Design Program.
・Teached in Kanazawa College of Art, Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo, and Tokyo University of the Arts.
・Currently, a Fine Arts Professor of Tokyo Univesity of the Arts.
・Studied at the UK, Denmark, Germany, France, and Netherlands by the Satoh Artcraft Research and Scholarship Foundation.
・Currently, a regular member of Japan Kogei Association, and a member of Japan Jewellery Designers Association.

・Main Awards and Exhibitions:
1989 Won a top award at the 30th Traditional Kōgei Exhibition in Ishikawa.
1994 Won a Takamatsunomiya Kinen award at the 41st Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition.
2015 Won a top award at the 44th Exhibition Traditional Japanese Metalwork.
2017 Exhibition 'Traditional Kōgei in Everyday Life', MOA museum of Art.
2018 Won a top award at the 65th Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition.
2019 Exhibition 'Kōgei is...' at LIXIL Gallery.
2019 Exhibition 'The 21st Okada Mokichi Award Exhibition', MOA museum of Art.
2019 Created Kazashi and Suhama for Daikyō No Gi in Daijosai
2019 Received Medal with Purple Ribbon
2020 Exhibition 'Kōgei 2020 -The Art of Crafting Beauty from Nature-', Tokyo National Museum
