麻と蓮展

原始の時代、人は麻を見つけ繊維とし、祭祀や衣服に使ってきた。日本では古く飛鳥や奈良時代には着用されていたことが記されている。
蓮は泥の中に美しい花を咲かせることから、アジアでは仏像の台座や供花に、花びらは散華として、西洋では蓮の花のデザインが好まれた。
影山秀雄が織る藍染めの麻は、目に肌に爽やかです。

Linen, Hemp and Lotus

In primitive times, people found hemp as fiber and used it in rituals and clothes. It is written that it was old in Japan in the Asuka and the Nara period.
Because lotus blooms beautiful flowers in the mud, for the pedestal of the Buddha statue and flower petals are Buddhist sense in Asia, and lotus flower designs are preferred in the West.
